The Oplight™ In The Times

This week, Clear Surgical and its innovative medical device, the OpLight™ were featured in a special article to commemorate 70 years of the NHS in Scotland.

On the 5th of July 2018, the National Health Service (NHS) celebrated its 70th anniversary with events up and down the length and breadth of the UK. This milestone was the perfect opportunity to celebrate and give thanks to all that have made the NHS possible.

The Times ran a special series of articles to commemorate 70 years of the NHS in Scotland and Clear Surgical were asked to feature in the innovative medical device part of this pullout. Below is an excerpt from this article :-

“Clear Surgical develops innovative solutions to surgical problems. Starting life as a small, wafer thin light dreamt up by NHS Ayrshire staff it is set to transform surgical lighting in hospitals across the globe. Measuring just 4mm thick and 5.5cm long, the cartridge adheres to surgical instruments and lights up the operating cavity from the inside so that surgeons can see more clearly”

Graham Watson, Scottish Health Innovations Ltd (SHIL) executive chair, said “The OpLight™ is the first major advancement in surgical lighting in many years and we believe the market is going to be huge. It’s an extremely versatile product with a wide range of surgical applications, from cardiac and spinal to bowel and breast, ata  fraction of the cost of current lighting options”

Scotland has a proud history of shaping health and patient care through research, science and innovation and is set to continue to transform the world of modern medicine.
